  1. I used to live in Portorange Fl and that is about 5 mins away from Daytona Beach and I used to like going to the beach and listen to the ocean. Its special to me because we moved to Florida about a year after my dad and grandmother passed away. So that was my get away and my time to relax and just let all of my thoughts escape.

  2. I don't really have a particular river or body of water that i feel connected to, but my dream has always been to go to a beatiful lak, Float in the deepest part for hours, with the sun shooting sparkles at my fingers and toes. Just enjoying my surroundings, and Hopefully this will one day come true!

  3. The only body of water I care for are the Caribbean Island’s waters. Coming from the mountainous area of Poland, I find the waters of Bahamas, Barbados, Dominican Republic and Jamaica amazingly exotic. The turquoise water contrasted by white sands makes me feel peaceful and relaxed while lying on the beach. The strong waves, however, scare me and therefore I never swim in those beautiful waters. I would rather stick with a shallow pool instead. My fear of water comes from the few times I almost drowned while growing up. Later, when I came to the USA I decided to face that fear and I learned how to swim, but in general water in my face and my hair it is just not my thing.

  4. Ana, you're right about the Caribbean Sea and its incredible beauty! Once, while snorkeling in the waters off the north shore of Jamaica, I looked down and saw a huge snake lying on the sea floor. The snake was brown, with white rings up and down it's slimy, glistening body. The guide told us the snake was poisonous, but not to worry -- that that type of snake didn't bite swimmers "too often." I was so terrified I couldn't breathe. A strong swimmer since childhood, I hightailed it back to shore and have not ventured into the Caribbean Sea since!

  5. Growing up in Southern California, the ocean has always been my touchstone. My earliest memories include digging for sand crabs with my grandfather in the surf at San Clemente. I have two favorite beaches -- Huntington Beach (the "surfing capital of the world"), with miles of white beaches and a pier that extends hundreds of yards out past the breakers and into the water (a "first date" destination for countless budding romances); and Laguna Beach, with its eclectic artist community, quaint cottages, and intimate coves. Now that I'm in New York, I've fallen in love with the Hudson River. I never knew a river could be so BIG! In California, with all the traffic, getting to the beach (and then finding parking) is an incredible hassle. But here, I live very close to the Hudson, and Maxine (my dog) and I make regular visits to its shores.

  6. I don't have a particular river, or other body of water, that i feel most connected to. I do remember one river in Peru and was called "El rio Maran"i crossed that river in order to come here and i was scared to cross it because it was loud and had strong currents that would take anything i its way. The color of the river made it even more frightning because it was dark green and when i looked at it i felt like it was draging me in. This is the only river that i remember because it scared me when i was a child.

  7. I have one favorite lake called Minewaska. We discovered this place with my father on our trip to upstate NY. The water is always a bit cold but so clear. I love swiming and every time I swim there I feel like a new person. I just love to spent some time over there and even my dog enjoys it.

  8. The prettiest water I ever saw was when I was in jamaica around ocho rios and we stopped at the beach and I was sitting on the light brown sand, powder soft sinking my feet into the sand and just watching the kids playing in the water. The water was a baby blue, turqoise color beautiful and you feel so serene and you can relax and just forget about the troubles at home, or work or even school. Everytime I go to jamaica I go to that beach, it just takes the stress away.

  9. The atlantic ocean definetley has some significance to me. I feel so very connected to it because growing up, My family and i would visit the jersey shore every summer. We would spend a week in a beach house with many of my mothers cousins and it was nothing short of a blast. It was amazing because every block had an opening to the beach so it was like going to the corner was paradise. The water was ice cold as soon as you got in but once you warmed up it was excellent. The waves were always gigantic and riding them into shore was something ill always enjoy. What makes this special is that it reminds me of all the great times i had spent with my family growing up.

  10. The body of water that I feel most connected to would be the Hudson River. The Hudson River is located from all the way upstate in the mountains of New York, but flows three-hundred fifthteen miles south through New York City into the Atlantic Ocean. The Hudson River is special to me because it gives off a relaxed feeling. Also in the night time crusing on the West Side Highway the Hudson River holds one of the many amazing sights in New York City. Whenever I'm driving south on the West Side Highway I always glance over at the water and imagine instead of driving I'm sailing my own yacht to Manhattan.

Living here in NY i don't feel attached to the water because there is nicer water that i have seen. I am not a beach person at all and don't really like into the water unless its a pool, on the contrary when i went to Puerto Rico i stayed with my Family that lived there at the time and we stayed in a light house on the beach that the owned. It was beautiful. I fell in love with the water there. It was so beautiful and Blue. The sand was so soft. I was the most relaxed because i forgot about how much i don't like the beach or sand and just enjoyed myself and thought about how much my mom would have loved it there cause she would live on a beach if she could and the light house. I was enjoying two of her favorite things in the world.

  13. I am from Rio de Janeiro Brazil. There I lived three blocks form Ipanema Beach. I have loved going there for as long as I remember. My parents started taking me there when I was a baby. I crawled in the sand there for the first time. My favorite memories growing up take place there. I remember that when I was a little kid my dad would hold me when the big waves came. When I go back home, I go there every day that the weather is good. I spent a lot of time body surfing there this July. I can't wait to go back there in a few months.

  14. I feel closest to the Hudson River. I've grown up riding past the Hudson in my parents' car on my way to either church, school, and other social activities. I also feel closest to it because two friends of mine drowned in the river and its a part of my life I'll never forget.

  15. Where I come from there where no rivers around but my home town was bordered by forest and were a lot of rivers. There is no river in particular that I’m connected to it, actually I love to see the water from rivers, oceans, or cascades. I love to see and admire how the water moves and looks. I just love it. It connects me with the freedom of living and makes me feel that I’m like a river or ocean; calm from the outside but full of energy from the inside. I like to go to Hudson Valley to a cabin that is right in front of a lake. That is a great place where I really enjoy to go.

  16. I don't have any particular river, or other body of water, that I feel most connected to. But, there's a small port that I visited long time ago it is called "Puerto Angel" and it is ubicated in Oaxaca, Mexico. It is beautiful and it's water is so clear that you can see the bottom. Also, when I went there I felt so relax and everything I wanted do was to swim in it.

  17. The only water I feel closet to is the Lake Volta in Ghana. It is located in the eastern region of the country. the first time i saw the lake was on a field trip and it is the largest body of water in Ghana. Almost 40 percent of the people in the country get their electricity from the lake.

  18. A body of water that I feel most connected to would be the water from the Galapagos Islands. My family and I took a tour for a week to the Galapagos and I loved it! The water was the cleanest, bluest, clearest, water i have ever seen in my life. It was also so warm and amazing. I spent most of my time in the water because I love swimming and I enjoyed being around the water everywhere I went.

  19. I don't really have any particular river or other body of water, that I feel most connected to.However, everytime my family n I travel to Ecuador for the summer, we always go to a beach called Atacames(located approximately 7hours from the capital Quito-Ecuador). The first time I went to Atacames was when I was 15years old, and since then I felt in love with the place. The water was deep blue, clean, and everyday the sun was out and shinning. To be honest am not a very big fan of swimming, but whenever i go to Atacames i feel like am in a paradise and all I want to go is swim, and jump in the waves, enjoy the sand, and the nice weather.

  20. Where I live there isn’t much around. Our town is centered around this one lake called peach lake. It’s a fairly big lake, but to me, coming from such a small town anything is big! The reason I feel so connected to peach lake is because I have spent so many summers on it. My best friend Liz lives on it and every summer we used to try to swim across it and finally one summer in 9th grade we made it. We would never tell her mom that we were tying it because we knew she would never let us do it, but years later we told her and she was fascinated that we made it (figures). I always look forward to summer just because I know that me whole summer will be spent on peach lake. The whole community looks forward to summer because they know it will be a great time on peach lake. There has never been a dull moment in summer when spending it on peach lake!
