I love both of my grandmothers. My grandmother on my dad's side passed away one year this thanksgiving. I have so many found memories of her. The thing i remember the most about her is her amazing memory she would always call me and send me a card for me and my mother's birthday. I thought it was extra sweet because she was no longer my mothers mother in law since my parents divorced. She always loved my mother even over my step-mother. I remember one Birthday my sweet 16 she bought this beautiful diamond necklace that she must have saved for a while because she was retired and didn't have a lot of money. It was the last big gift i got from her because the following year she got sick and passed away. The necklace is dear to but so is the memory of her being alive and giving it to me for my 16 birthday.

  3. I have so many fond memories with my grandmother that I can't choose just one. My grandma was my best friend, it was always easy talking to her about anything. My cousins and siblings were always jealous cause my grandmother and I were so close. We talked about anything, boys, relationships, you name it we talked about it. I miss her so much.

  4. one of my favorite memories of my grandmother was the day she taught me how to tie shoes and remember spending a whole summer with. That was when I was 7 years old.It took me almost 30 minutes or more me to get done. That was the first time was able tie them without any adults support.I will never forget the day I got admitted in the hospital after having knee surgery, she spent most of her time in there with. I never felt alone in there. She always there to help me. Unfortunately, death takes away the people we love most from us. I thank her for that. I would always appreciate every second, minutes, every hour and all days that I spent with my grandmother.

  5. I have a lot of good memories of my grandmother. She loved to cook, be around family, and she loved Christmas. She would go all out on the decorations and lights, her house was the best lit on the black she had huge dolls that moved and the seven little dorfs and all kinds of decorations. We all enjoyed helping her decorating. Ever Christmas I think of her and how her house used to look.

  6. I have very few memories of my grandmother from my dad's side of the family because she died when I was three. However I do remember sitting on her lap and playing with her. I have many fond memories of my grandmother from my mom's side. She lives in Brazil and I visit her often or she comes visit me, my parents, and my brother. One of my best memories would have to be when she would take me to ballet and swimming classes when I was little and afterwards we would go get a snack or she would take me to the playground. Recently, one of my favorite memories was when we went to Bali, along with my mom last year. It was great to travel and spend time with her.

  7. When I think of my grandmother I just remember a saint without any flaws. My gandmother just recently passed on Sept.5th, it's still painfull for my because I think of her everyday. There are unlimited amount of memories I have of my grandmother. The top pic in memories of her would have to be when she baked cakes. Yes, the cakes that she made were scrumptious, but it was the fact that she would save the iceing off the cake just for me. My mom complained about it sometimes in fear of cavities, but my grandma sneaked it on the side anyway. It's my favorite memory because that shows she was always willing to put a smile on my face.

  8. Both my grandmothers are very sweet, caring like any grandmother would be. I was never really close to them, but i did have some good memories with them. From what I can remember every time that i would arrive in either of my grandmothers home, they would treat me as if I was a babi, and to them no matter how you are. You will always be a babi!!.. I know that I am lucky to have them both alive and I am thankfull for that, and I know if any of them was too leave this world it would hurt me a lot!!!...

  9. My grandmother was a fabulous in the kitchen. Her angel food cake was "light as a feather;" her pie crusts were so light and flakey the layers could be "separated with a feather;" her butter-laden strawberry shortcake was served hot from the oven and covered with icebox-cold strawberries fresh from the field "down the street," sliced, and dripping with sweet syrup from their white sugar marinade, then topped with a mound of hand whipped heavy cream. But what I remember most were the gingerbread men she made every Christmas. She would make about two dozen, every one decorated with exquisite detail. Silver buttons. Red boots with white trim. Stocking hats of red or green sugar sprinkle. Each hand with a frosting mitten. Some had "red hot" candy buttons that burned my mouth in the same bite as soft gingerbread and hand-whipped butter frosting. She arrived at our house either Christmas morning or Christmas Eve with a HUGH box (the same box every year), with her gingerbread men all lined up like dutiful soldiers. My brother and I were allowed one gingerbread man each day -- because "your grandmother put hours of work into these and you're not going to gobble them down in two minutes." At Christmas, and every day after (until they were all gone), my mother would take the box down from on top of the refrigerator (put there so we couldn't reach it). We would lift the lid and there were the gingerbread men, waiting patiently. In my imagination, I heard them calling out, "Choose me! Choose me!" My brother and I sometimes fought over a gingerbread man -- as no two were the same. I liked the ones with the sugar sprinkles most. I also like the ones with the red hots for buttons. I always felt sorry for the gingerbread men who were last to be chosen -- silly, now, to think of it. We also ate the gingerbread men in a particular order -- right leg, left leg, right hand, left hand, head, then the body.
My grandmother died when I was in my early 20's. She had dementia, and didn't know me the last few years of her life. It's always been my greatest sorrow, not to have known her in my adult years. One Christmas, and I don't remember what prompted her to do it, she wrapped up her gingerbread man cookie cutter and gave it to me. She could have given me diamonds and gold, and I wouldn't have been as touched and pleased as I was to have her pass her aluminum gingerbread man cookie cutter down to me. Well, I'm 53 years old now, and she had that cookie cutter for many years before I came along. It's one of my most prized possessions -- that now bent, decrepit cookie cutter that hasn't been used in years.

  10. My Grandmother is a very special person to me. My grandmother is only 59 years of age. She is very young and loves to do many things. There are two very memorable things that i still remember up until this day. My Grandmother loves to dance to oldies, and whenever we are in the car or at home she always puts her CD in and just starts dancing to it as if she was a teenager. I have to say I think she is a much better dancer than I am. Another memorable thing about my Grandmother is that she is the only one who always took us to Disney World in Florida. I will never forget the drive down there every summer and when she used to ride the rides with us. My Grandmother has not just been like a Grandmother but she has been the best mom anyone can ever have.

  11. My favorite memory of my grandma would have to be the one in which every year she would bake tons of doughnuts for a celebration of the Fat Thursday. On this day over 100 million doughnuts are sold in Poland and everybody eats at least two☺ My grandma however used to make them from scratch. I will never forget the smell and warmth of the deep-fried sweet dough filling the whole house. Just how I will never forget how sweet, warm and caring my grandma is.

  12. my favorite memory of my grandmother is when i used to go to her house everytime i got into an argument with my mom. She would welcome me and make me my favorite food and make me feel better. After a while i would have a argument with my grandmother too and what i always remember of her is that she would scream at me and after an hour we would again start talking and she would make all the things i liked. i was spoiled by my grandmother. She was like my mother and father.

  13. I must say although my grandmother past away i can still remember her like it was yesterday. she was such a sweet old lady who always knew how to rub my back to make me go to sleep (worked like a charm when i was younger). my favorite memory of her had to be the time she let my sister, brother, and myself dress up in their clothing and pretend to be them. my grandmother would use to correct us to make sure we made her look good. i miss her and love her may she rest in peace

  14. I only knew one of my grandmothers, but she died when I was nine years old, and the only thing that I remember of her it's that she liked to told me stories about when she was a little girl, and how different was everything before, also how my mom was when she was younger.

  15. I never met any of my grandmothers from neither of my parent's side because they both passed awat before I was born. I really never had a chance to spend that bonding time with my grandmothers as most children do when they are young. However I have heard many wonderful stories about them. My mother told me my grandmother would sit all her nine kids and tell them a story before they went off to bed. Every sunday she would go to church with all of them and then take them out for ice cream. Unfortunetly my mother doesn't have many memories with my grandmother because she passed away when my mom was seventeen years old. My father never told me stories about my grandmother because my mom and him divorced when I was about five years old and he hasn't been in my life since then.

  18. Both of my grandmother's are very important in my life and I have great memories from both of them. From a very young age, both of my grandmother's have always been there for me, guided me through the right path, and have given me good advices. But one of the most favorite and more important memories that I have from them is a phrase that they have told me many times:"Material things aren't important in one's life". Even though the materialistic things and money are necessary in our lives, both of my grandmother's have made me learn that family, friendship, and respect comes first. Both of my grandmother's live in Ecuador, so I don't really get to see them until the summer when I go there for vacation. Other memories about both of them is that every time I go and visit them they treat me with all their love, they make my favorite foods, and one time both of them even taught me how to make bread dolls. I remember I was very excited to learn how to make it, and once I did my first bread doll, I didn't want to stop.

  19. My grandmother is a particular character in my family. She is the pilar of the family and the one that has a strong attitude. She is also old fashion and has a strong religious beliefs. when i was in Mexico i used to visited her until i grew up and analyzed her thoughts and ideas about life. I made the mistake to not visit her frecuenly because we didn't understand each other that much. By the time i moved here everything change, the distance made me realize why she was the way she was and why she thinks like that. She came this year after six years with out seeing each other. It was an amazing experience to be with her and to get to know each other better. Now she is not only my grandmather, she is my friend that listens to me and understands the way i feel and think. She is a great women, mother, wife, and grandmother that showed me how life was before and that aren't many changes now. She also showed me that each individual person can't get anything if we don't try.

  21. If i had to pick one of the many many memories i shared with my grandmother antionette, it would be our memories of the kitchen in her house in the bronx. My grandmother, like almost every other grandmother in the world, was one who would absolutley put any others first before herself. i'd imagine it was something she enjoyed. She enjoyed seeing smiles and being the reason for them being brought. My grandmother would cook me and my brother our favorite lenthal soup then take out the toybox after we had finished it all. i miss my grandmother very much and think about her time to time.
